May 2023 Collington Yard of the Month

5/26/2023

The 2023 Collington Yard of the Month, and Collington Lawn of the Month season has begun! From May through October, one Collington address will be chosen for each category. Each recipient will receive a $25 Lowes gift card as a “Thank You" gift for keeping our neighborhood looking its best. Each category is chosen from attributes visible from the street, and not backyards.

The May Yard of the Month:
Tony and Tammie Bond
8807 Lavenham Loop
The Bonds try to keep their property maintained as organically as possible, using products from Espoma and neem oil to control insects.

May 2023 Lawn of the Month:

Ronald Archer
14025 Ashmill Drive
Mr. Archer maintains everything himself, utilizing concepts his dad taught him long ago. He alternates the direction he mows in each time, fertilizes every 2 months with Scott’s products, uses weed killer 3x per year, adds Milorganite, aerates and seeds yearly, and waters the lawn 3x a week for 1/2 hour each time.

Is there a way to enter to participate, we have been vigorously waiting for the opportunity to get Yard of the month . My husband has maintained our yard as well as my moms who happens to be our neighbor. We’re on Longtown drive 11537 & 11531.

If keeping your grass cut and Hedges maintain then we all should be getting an award. I hope next month the committee will actually look around at the individuals who actually put time into their yard and recognized those individuals

Yard & Lawn of the Month

The three main criteria used to evaluate residential properties for the Yard of The Month are:

    1) Overall turf health. Is the yard being properly nourished and irrigated, and does it show a nice balance of green.

    2) Shrub maintenance and grooming (shaping versus shaggy)

    3) Color. Are colorful
flowers being used to enhance the overall curb appeal of the property.
